OBJECTIVE
To provide a procedure for calibrating the electronic balance.
SCOPE
It covers the procedure for the calibration of the electronic balance in IPQC.
RESPONSIBILITY
Production chemist, Production Executive, Production Manager.
PROCEDURE
- Keep the instrument in a clean and proper place.
- Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from any vibration, air thrust, dust particles and or moisture.
- Switch on the mains.
- At no load position ascertain that it is indicating ‘ZERO’. In case of deviation adjust the zero setting device and eliminate the deviation.
- Ensure that there is no rapid change in the temperature of the surroundings.
- Check that the electronic connections are okay and properly secured.
- Check the display of the weights against the standard weights & record the readings in the chart.
- Limit of Accuracy should be within + 0.1% of the individual weights.
- In case of any variation observed, maintenance, servicing or repair is done by consulting with Seniors.
- Following servicing, rechecks must be carried out till satisfactory results are obtained.
- Do not add any weight, more than the capacity of the instrument.
PRECAUTION
To weigh, place the material in the center of the platform & note the digital display.
RECORDS / SPECIMEN
Record the results in the Calibration record
FREQUENCY
Daily.
MAINTENANCE / REPAIRS
If the instrument does not produce the required results or its response is poor then it should be Labeled “FAULTY” and should be repaired or serviced.
