SOP for Temperature & Moisture Control Test

OBJECTIVE
To demonstrate the ability of the air handling system to maintain temperature and moisture (expressed as relative humidity) levels within the control limits over the period.

SCOPE
The procedure applies to the Air Handling Unit located in the Plant facility.

RESPONSIBILITY
Officer/Executive Engineering: Shall be responsible for the measurement of airflow velocity and air changes per hour
Manager-Engineering: To ensure that the procedure is properly followed

EQUIPMENT USED FOR TESTING
Calibrated digital thermo hygrometer

PROCEDURE
  • The air conditioning system should have run without a break for at least 24 hours before conducting the test.
  • All lights in the specified area to be put ‘ON’ while testing.
  • All machines should be in operational condition while testing.
  • The required personnel as per the basis of design should be present in the area of operation.

  • Operational air velocity should be verified and adjusted before conducting the test.
  • The required fresh air system should be adjusted and established before starting the test.
  • Required return air velocities have to be adjusted and established prior to the test
  • The test should be conducted every 60 minutes interval and for a period of 6 hours in each room.
  • The system should be capable of maintaining a temperature and moisture within the design range throughout the testing period and every day of operations subject to the design level of occupancy and heat generation.
