SOP for Operation and Cleaning of Fitzmill

OBJECTIVE

To lay down procedures for the operation and cleaning of Fitzmill.

SCOPE

The procedure applies to Fitzmill in the production area.

RESPONSIBILITY

Operator: To operate and clean equipment

Supervisor: To ensure the procedure is appropriately followed.

PROCEDURE

• Assemble various parts of the Fitzmill including the appropriate sieve mesh screen as stipulated by the batch record.
• Fit the sieving bag to the milling part of the Fitzmill.
• Fit the sieving bag to the container receiving the milled powder.
• Load the powder into the hopper, using a stainless steel scoop.
• Switch on the three-phase mains.
• Based on the batch record instructions, slowly push the powder into the milling section using slow speed with 1 belt or high speed with 2 belts.
• Collect the milled powder in the pre-tared plastic containers.
• Weigh the milled powder before sending it for mixing.
• After completion disassemble the machine parts and clean them.
• Dedust with a vacuum cleaner.
• When changing from one product to another, remove and change the sieving bags.
• The sieving bag should be cleaned as per SOP.
