SOP for Operation and Cleaning of Rapid Mixer Granulator

OBJECTIVE

To provide a procedure for the operation and cleaning of the Rapid Mixer Granulator.

SCOPE

It applies to the operation and cleaning of the Rapid Mixer Granulator.

RESPONSIBILITY

Operator: To operate the machine as per this SOP.

Supervisor: To ensure that the procedure is followed.

Production Head: To enforce the procedure.

PROCEDURE

Procedure for Operation

• Check the blade, chopper & body of the rapid mixer granulator are cleaned.
• Clean the internal portion with a lint-free duster.
• Ensure cleaning & fitting.
• Update the status board with details.
• Open the air supply valve to the rapid mixer granulator.
• Check air pressure should be more than 4 kg/cm2.
• Open the lid and charge the material, by turning the top lid button towards the open marking for RMG 250 Ltrs.

• Close the lid and fix the side clamps. Close the lid by turning the top lid button towards the close marking for RMG 250 Ltrs.
• Mix the material as per the respective product batch manufacturing record.
• To mix the material on a slow-speed agitator, push the “slow-speed agitator “button.
• To mix the material on fast fast-speed agitator, push the “fast-speed agitator “button.
• To start the chopper on a slow speed, turn the button to mark the slow speed chopper.
• To start the chopper at a fast speed, turn the button to mark the fast speed chopper.
• To add the paste, open the paste addition port & pour the paste.
• Mix material as per respective product BMR.
• To discharge material; push the ‘Discharge Opening Button’
• Unload the material in an FBD bowl or polythene bag-lined container as per requirement.
• Close the outlet port by pushing the ‘OFF ‘switch.
• Update the status board with details.

Procedure for cleaning:

Cleaning for product-to-product changeover:

• Update the status board with details.
• Start compressed air supply.
• Close the discharge port by pushing off the switch.
• Open the paste additions port and charge the water.

• Fill the rapid mixer granulator with approx. half portion with water.
• Close the paste addition port. Start the agitator and chopper.
• Start the agitator and chopper approx. 10 minutes.
• Keep an empty container below the outlet port to collect the water.
• Push the discharge port opening switch to drain the water.
• Remove the main blade. Take it to the washing room for cleaning.
• Clean it with 1% soap solution no detergent left.
• Wash the blade with water till the detergent is removed.
• Rinse the blade with purified water.
• Dry it with a clean duster.
• Clean and remove the sticking material to the inside body of rapid mixer granulator with a nylon brush.
• Wash the body & chopper blades with 1% soap solution.
• Wash the body & chopper blades with water till no detergent left.
• Rinse the body & chopper blades with purified water.
• Dry the rapid mixer granulator with dry & clean duster. Allow it to dry.
• Now fix the agitator, which is cleaned.
• Clean the platform, side guards & staircase with water.
• If the machine is not used after cleaning within 24 hours, the Machine to be re-cleaned by following the above procedure.

Cleaning for batch to batch change over:

• Frequency of cleaning to be done after every 3 Batches.
• Update the status board with details.
• Start compressed air supply.
• Wear hand gloves & nose mask.

• Open the lid by turning the top lid button towards the open marking for RMG 250 LTRS.
• Close the discharge port by pushing off the switch.
• Clean and remove material sticking to the inside body of the rapid mixer granulator.
• Clean the outlet port of the rapid mixer granulator.
• Close the lid and fix the side clamps. Close the lid by turning the top lid button towards the close marking for RMG 250 LTRS.
• Clean the outside body of the rapid mixer granulator with a dry & clean duster.
• Clean the platform, side guards & staircase with a duster.
• Put the in-process label with details.
