SOP for Operating Procedure of Double Cone Blender

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for the operation of a double-cone blender.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the production department in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities of XYZ Limited.

RESPONSIBILITY

The operator is responsible for the implementation of the process.

The Production In-Charge is responsible for the execution of the procedure.

PROCEDURE

• Ensure that the machine is thoroughly cleaned.
• Operational procedure:

1. Adjust the angle of the blender with the help of the moving wheel to a required position for convenience in loading materials.
2. Remove the lid by unfastening the nuts.
3. Load the material from the container into the blender as per the sequence specified in the B.M.R.
4. After loading the material, close the lid of the blender.
5. Switch ‘ON’ the equipment and start the blending.
6. Blend the material as per the time specified in the B.M.R.
7. During the blending operation, attach an In-process label to the drum blender specifying the name of the product, batch no, and its status along with the signature of the production supervisor.

• Unloading Procedure:

1. Ensure that the main switch of the equipment is put ‘OFF’.
2. Keep a clean container with a polythene bag below the blender and remove the lid.
3. Adjust the position of the blender at the required angle slowly so that all material will flow into the container.
4. All the operation details shall be entered in the equipment usage log.
