SOP for Cleaning of Cloth Duster for Wiping Jars Used In Bulk Packaging of Capsules

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for cleaning of cloth duster used for wiping jars used in bulk packing of capsules.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the packing department in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities of XYZ Limited. This procedure covers the cleaning of a cloth duster used for wiping jars used in bulk packing of capsules.

RESPONSIBILITY

The concerned operator is responsible for the implementation of the process.

The production In-Charge is responsible for the execution and compliance of the procedure.

PROCEDURE

• The packing In-Charge shall ensure that 4 sets of cloth dusters per solid dosage form product being bulk packed are there in the packaging department under the custody of the packaging supervisor.
• The dirty cloth duster shall first be rinsed thoroughly in running tap water three or four times to ensure all the powder sticking to the cloth duster is removed.
• Then the cloth duster is wrung thoroughly to remove water.

• This cloth duster shall then be cleaned thoroughly using detergent powder.
• This cloth duster shall be finally soaked in a container containing a 0.5% disinfectant solution for 30 minutes.

• Then the cloth duster shall be wrung dried and dried in the sun.
• This cloth duster shall be then ironed and given to the packaging supervisor.
• The disinfectant used can be Dettol, Savlon, Hibitane or Ceylon.
• For every batch two sets of cloth dusters shall be started in the beginning for wiping.
• After every 1000 jars of 1 litre, 1200 jars of 500 C.C. and 1500 jars of 300 C.C. containers the cloth duster shall be changed.
• The supervisor shall use his / her discretion for changing the cloth duster depending on the cleanliness status of the containers.
