OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for the operation of the tray dryer.
SCOPE
This procedure applies to the production department in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities of XYZ Limited.
RESPONSIBILITY
The production staff is responsible for the implementation of the process.
The production In-Charge is responsible for the execution and compliance of the procedure.
PROCEDURE
- Ensure that the SS trays are clean. Ensure that both the internal (grills, base and roof) and external surface of the dryer is clean. Check that the exhaust fan and duct is clean and free from dust.
- Affix the status label and load the material to be dried into the trays with the help of SS Scoops and distribute it evenly.
- Spread the material uniformly on the tray with the help of SS scoops. Load only about half the level of each tray.
- Place the trays into the drawer.
- Shut the door of the dryer and switch the ‘ON’ electrical supply.
- Set the specified temperature. Note down the time at which the ‘SET’ temperature has attained.
- The material is to be dried for a specified time as per the BMR from the above-noted time. Rake the material with an SS spatula intermittently for effective drying.
- Before unloading the material ensure that the Moisture Content of the material is within the limit specified in the BMR.
- Switch ‘OFF’ the heater, blower, and main power.
- Unload each tray of material starting from the bottom and ending at the top into a clean, labeled in process container lined with poly bags.
- All the operation details shall be entered in the equipment usage and cleaning record.
