SOP for Cleaning Procedure of Tray Dryer

OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for cleaning of tray dryer.

SCOPE
This procedure applies to the production department in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities of XYZ Limited.
This procedure covers the cleaning of the tray dryer.

RESPONSIBILITY
The concerned operator is responsible for the implementation of the process.
The Production In-Charge is responsible for the execution and compliance of the procedure.

PROCEDURE

Type “B” Cleaning Procedure
  • This procedure has to be followed at the time:
  1. Product-to-product changeover
  2. From higher to lower strength
  3. Change in color
  4. After any major breakdown or preventive maintenance
  5. After continuous production of 5 batches or in between the week whenever required.
  • Switch OFF the mains of the machine.
  • Affix the status label “TO BE CLEANED” on the equipment.
  • Remove the trays from the tray dryer.
  • Give initial rinse to trays using potable water. Apply Liquid soap detergent.
  • Scrub the trays using a nylon scrubber. Wash it using potable water.
  • Ensure thorough and complete rinse of the total surface of trays.
  • Continue the potable water rinse till the trays are visibly free from powder residues.
  • Give the final rinse with the purified water to the trays.
  • Dry the trays using lint-free cloths. Wipe out the body surface with a wet followed by dry lint-free cloth.
  • Put the “CLEANED” label on the equipment.


Type “A” Cleaning Procedure
  • This procedure has to be followed at the time of:
  1. Batch-to-batch changeover.
  2. From lower to higher strength.
  3. At the end of the shift.
  • Switch OFF the mains of the machine.
  • Dry-clean the body surface, and trays by using dry lint-free cloth.
  • Ensure complete cleanliness visually.
  • Replace the label if necessary.
All the cleaning details shall be entered in the equipment cleaning log book.
