SOP for Calibration of Vernier Caliper

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for calibration of the Vernier caliper.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the production department in the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Facilities of XYZ Limited.

RESPONSIBILITY

The operator is responsible for the implementation of the process.

The In-Charge is responsible for the execution and compliance of the procedure.

PROCEDURE

• Measuring Range:  150 x 0.02 mm. Max error: 100 mm: 20 Micro mm.
• Collect the in-house Vernier caliper and compare it with the standard Vernier caliper.

• The standard vernier caliper should be validated by the external body.
• Check the tablet/capsule thickness or joint length with a standard / in-house vernier caliper.
• Measure the reading and record it in the calibration log. The tolerance limit is +/- 0.1 mm.
• Frequency of calibration: Once a month.
