SOP for Calibration of Pipettes

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for the Calibration of Pipettes.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of XYZ Limited.

RESPONSIBILITY

The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for the implementation of the process.

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of the procedure.

PROCEDURE

• Fill the pipette previously cleaned and rinsed with distilled water, up to the marking with distilled water at 20^oC or 25^oC.
• Drain it to a tare weighing bottle.
• Determine the weight of the water.

ALSO READ: SOP for Calibration of Volumetric Glassware

• Divide the weight by 0.99718 in the case of 20^oC water or by 0.99602 in the case of water at 25^oC to get a true volume of the pipette.
• All the calibration details shall be entered in the calibration log for Pipettes.
