OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for the Calibration of Pipettes.
SCOPE
This procedure applies to the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of XYZ Limited.
RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for the implementation of the process.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of the procedure.
PROCEDURE
- Fill the pipette previously cleaned and rinsed with distilled water, up to the marking with distilled water at 20oC or 25oC.
- Drain it to a tare weighing bottle.
- Determine the weight of the water.
- Divide the weight by 0.99718 in the case of 20oC water or by 0.99602 in the case of water at 25oC to get a true volume of the pipette.
- All the calibration details shall be entered in the calibration log for Pipettes.
