OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for the Calibration of Burettes
SCOPE
This procedure applies to the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of XYZ Limited.
RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for the implementation of the process.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of the procedure.
PROCEDURE
- Fill a clean burette, previously tested for leakage to the zero mark with distilled water at 20°C or 25°C.
- A definite volume, e.g. 10ml is allowed to run into a tare bottle and the weight of water withdrawn is determined.
- The burette is filled again to zero
- Repeat the procedure and divide the weights by 0.99718 if water at 20°C is used or by 0.99602 if water at 25°C is used to get the actual volume.
- All the calibration details shall be entered in the calibration log for Burettes.
