SOP for Destruction of Samples Drawn by Quality Control Department

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for destroying the in-process, finished product, and raw materials samples after completion of analysis.

SCOPE

This procedure applies to the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of PharmaInfo Limited.

RESPONSIBILITY

Execution - Chemist –QC Department

Checking - asst. Manager and above – QC Department

PROCEDURE

• After approval of the batch collect all the excess samples in a specified place and transfer them to place “Sample for destruction"
• In the case of bottles, open the glass bottles, empty the contents and remove and tear the labels (if pasted) and throw it into the trashcan.
• At the end of each day, all excess samples of raw material, tablets and capsules should be soaked in water till they become soft.

• After the sample softening decant the water and paste in the soak pit area.

• Destruction and disposal of the above materials shall be done in the presence of the Asst. manager and above.
• All labels, cartons etc. shall be crushed/shredded accordingly.
