SOP for Cleaning Procedure for UV-Visible Spectrophotometer

OBJECTIVE

To lay down the procedure for cleaning of UV-Visible Spectrophotometer

SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for UV-Visible Spectrophotometer installed in Quality Control Laboratory at XYZ Limited

RESPONSIBILITY

Execution: Chemist and above-QC department

PROCEDURE

• Frequency: After each use
• After completion of the testing, remove cuvettes from the sample compartment.

• Remove the test solution from the cuvette and wash it with the respective solvent in which the solution is prepared.
• Rinse with purified water properly to remove the traces of the sample followed by methanol and wipe with tissue paper. Dry in the air and keep it in a proper place.
• Clean the sample compartment with a dry cloth to remove any foreign material if required.
• Clean the outer surface of the instrument with Isopropyl alcohol and dry it with tissue paper when required.
• Record the details of cleaning in the log book of the instrument as per the current version of SOP.
