OBJECTIVE
To provide a procedure for operating the digital Griffin flask shaker.
SCOPE
The procedure shall be applied when operating the digital Griffin flask shaker in the Q.C Laboratory.
RESPONSIBILITY
It is the responsibility of the QC Executive and any person using the equipment to follow the outlined procedure fully.
It is the responsibility of the QC Manager to ensure that the procedure is correctly followed without deviations.
PROCEDURE
System Set up
- Place the Griffin flask shaker on a well-leveled and sturdy base
- Connect the Griffin flask shaker to the 230V AC mains supply. Ensure that there is sufficient earthing.
- Fill the griffin flasks to the appropriate level. All the flasks ought to be filled equally to balance the load.
- Seal the flask and clamp it to the shaker. Tighten the wing nuts for proper grip so that the flask will not slip from the clamp.
- Make sure that both the arms of the shaker are properly balanced.
Operation
- Switch ON the mains.
- To set the time, PRESS the SET switch and release.
- The timer display will show ‘SET 1’ and then 00.00 on display.
- Set the required time with the help of ‘UP’ and ‘DOWN’ switches.
- Set the preferred speed using the blue front knob.
- Press the ‘SET’ switch again to save the setting.
- To start the timer, press the start button, the ‘START’ LED will glow, the motor will start oscillating and the timer will start counting the time. Counting is indicated by flashing the decimal point of the timer display. When the actual time equals the set time the motor will stop and you will hear an alarm for 10 seconds. Press stop if you want to switch off the alarm immediately.
- Press the reset button for 2 seconds to start a new cycle.
- You can either set a new time based on the instructions given above or press ‘START’ for the next cycle of tests.
- Note: The instrument should not be operated at temperatures more than 50°C. It should be operated at normal room temperature away from direct sunlight and direct air draught.
