SOP for Operation and Maintenance of Lovibond Tintometer

OBJECTIVE
To provide a procedure for the Operation & Maintenance of the Lovibond Tintometer.

SCOPE
To establish a procedure for an operation of the Lovibond Tintometer.

RESPONSIBILITY
QC Designee: Responsible for the operation of the instrument.
Section In-charge: Responsible for reviewing the procedure
QC Head: Responsible for implementing the procedure.
QA Head: Overall compliance.


PROCEDURE

Operation
  • Plug in the Lovibond Benchtop illumination system and switch it on and wait for 10 minutes to warm-up the lamp.
  • Fix the Lovibond Nessler 2150 and insert the colour standard disc chosen among NSH, NSB, and NSX based on the color comparison.
  • Fill one Nessler cylinder to just above the 50 ml mark with the solution under examination and fit the anti-meniscus plunger.
  • Stand the cylinder in the right-hand compartment of the Nessleriser.
  • Fill another in the same way with deionized water and place in the left-hand compartment
  • Rotate the disc until the closet color match is obtained, if necessary estimate between the nearest values.
  • Record the value displayed as APHA or Hazen units


Use Lovibond Nessleriser 2250 for Disc CAA & CAB
  • Fill one Nessler cylinder to just above the 250 mm. mark with the solution under examination and fit the anti-meniscus plunger.
  • Stand the cylinder in the right-hand compartment of the Nessleriser
  • Fill another in the same way with deionized water and place it in the left-hand compartment.
  • Rotate the disc until the closet color match is obtained, if necessary estimate between the nearest values.
  • Record the value displayed as APHA or Hazen units

For Disc 4/28 and 4/28A Use Lovibond Daylight 2000+ Comparator
  • Fill a 40 mm. cell to the 20ml line with the sample and place it in the right-hand compartment of the comparator. Leave the left-hand compartment empty.
  • Rotate the disc until the closet colour match is obtained, if necessary estimate between the nearest values.
  • Record the value displayed as APHA or Hazen units


Maintenance
  • To avoid excessive heating, do not leave the lamp turned on for longer than the duration of the measurement.
  • Always avoid touching the lamp as this can significantly reduce the life of the lamp
  • The glass filter can be cleaned using soapy water and then rinsed.
  • Clean the cells every time after use
