SOP for Routine and Preventive Maintenance for Coating Machine

OBJECTIVE
  1. To reduce downtime.
  2. To minimize breakdown time and maintenance cost of equipment to obtain optimum performance.

SCOPE
  1. The service covers general maintenance for a long interval (yearly/monthly) and short intervals (daily/weekly).
  2. Safety for equipment, operator, and product.

RESPONSIBILITY
  • The engineering department is responsible for long and medium-interval checks and maintenance.
  • Operator, responsible for short interval checks daily and weekly.
  • Engineering manager, plant manager, and other responsible authority for making equipment available for maintenance.



PROCEDURE
Mechanical
  • Check the cleaning of the coating pan daily.
  • Check the tightness of the motor by fixing bolts monthly.
  • Check the tightness of the gearbox by fixing bolts monthly.
  • Check the tightness of the grub screw on the coupling monthly.
  • Check the tightness of the bolt-on pan mounting bass monthly.

Electrical
  • Check/clean and tighten motor terminal box connections- monthly.
  • Check/clean, and tighten of earth connection- monthly.

Lubrication
  • Check/replace oil in the gearbox (SAE 90) as per required.
  • Apply oil or grease on the leading of the eye bolt and pins of the hinges of the drive plate- monthly.


Safety
Safety of Operator
  • Always use the proper tools
  • Make certain there is no oil or water on the flow.
  • Make certain that electrical connections and air connections are disconnected from the source.

Safety of Equipment
  • Never over-tighten bolts and nuts
  • Never under-tighten bolts and nuts
  • Always tighten bolts and nuts in a cooled sequence.
  • Make certain all connections are tightened before operating the machine.
  • Before operating the machine make certain all moving parts are protected by guards. And guards are properly put in place.
  • Make certain machine alignment is perfect.

Safety of Contents
  • Always ensure the accuracy and case given to the installation and adjustments of various parts of the system is correct.
  • Always review safety as a reminder of the hazards which may be present when working with equipment and suppliers as there is no exception to the rule that the safe way is the right way.
