SOP for Management of Chemicals used in Purified Water Plant

Objective

To lay down a procedure for the management of chemicals used in the purified water plant.

Scope

This procedure is applicable for chemicals used in purified water plants at XYZ Ltd.

Responsibility

Engineering, 

Purchase, 

Warehouse 

QC department.

Accountability

Quality Assurance Manager

Procedure

• The purchase department shall raise PO for the procurement of chemicals.
• The chemicals shall be received by the warehouse department.
• The warehouse department shall prepare GRN and shall affix quarantine label on chemicals.
• The warehouse department shall inform QC department for sampling.
• QC department shall perform the Identification and assay test of chemicals received.
• QC department shall affix an approved label on the container if chemicals pass the test.
• Chemicals shall be rejected if it does not pass the test.
• The engineering department shall receive the chemical and shall maintain record for it.

• Below chemicals are used by the engineering department:

1. NaOCl: Sodium hypochlorite
2. NaOH: Sodium hydroxide
3. SHMP: Sodium hexa meta phosphate
4. NaCl: Sodium chloride
5. SMBS: Sodium meta bisulfite
