SOP for Usage of Personal Protective Equipment

OBJECTIVE

To provide guidelines for proper and effective usage of personal protective equipment.

SCOPE

To ensure the safety of personnel as well as products being handled in manufacturing operations.

INTRODUCTION

• All the employees should realize that the protective equipment are not just meant for protecting the products from contamination but also for their personal safety and should develop a regular habit of using them. 
• The management should give proper training to the employees for proper usage of this equipment because each piece of equipment is specific for a specific purpose. 
• The description of each type of equipment to be used for different operations is given in Annexure.

PROCEDURE

• The specific type of protective equipment should be provided to workmen according to the nature of the work they are assigned.
• The workmen should follow the instructions for usage of equipment before entering into their work spot.
• During lunch and tea breaks, they should remove the equipment and store them in secure places.
• At the end of day operations the equipment should be preserved in secure and dust-free places.
• The spoiled and damaged equipment should be immediately discarded and replaced.
