SOP for Operation of the Dhona 200D Balance

OBJECTIVE
To lay down a procedure for the Operation of the Dhona 200D Balance.

SCOPE
This procedure applies to the pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities of XYZ Limited.

RESPONSIBILITY
The Quality Control Chemist is responsible for implementation of the process.
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of the procedure.

PROCEDURE
  • Before weighing, make sure that the balance is arrested, balance pan is empty and clean, weighing chamber doors are closed and all knobs set to zero.
  • Carefully place the object to be weighed on the balance pan and close the weighing chamber doors.
  • Turn the pan release lever to upward position.
  • Turn the weight control knobs to get a pre weight.


  • Turn the pan release knob to the arrest position then down ward to get the final weight.
  • Turn the counter knob if necessary so that the index marking coincides with the marking in the read out panel.
  • Read and record the weight.
  • Arrest the balance, remove the object from the pan, turn all knobs to zero and clean the chamber and area around the balance.
