SOP for Operation and Cleaning of Vacuum Cleaner

OBJECTIVE
To provide a procedure for the operation and cleaning of the vacuum cleaner.

SCOPE
To be used in the dedusting of containers on receipt in the warehouse and dedusting in the production area.

RESPONSIBILITY
Operator /warehouse assistant: Operating and cleaning the vacuum cleaner and maintaining the logbook.
Supervisor: Checking operation and cleaning of the vacuum to ensure proper usage and handling.

PROCEDURE
  • Insert the hose end into the air intake and push until the catch clicks into position. To remove the hose press the catch release button and pull the hose end out of the intake duct.
  • Attach the extension tube to the hose handle and the desired nozzle to the other end of the extension tube.
  • Connect the electrical cord of the cleaner to the power supply.
  • Press the on/off switch to switch the cleaner on.
  • Direct the hose to where dust extraction is required.
  • Adjust the suction power by opening or closing the aperture on the hose handle.
  • When finished dedusting switch off the cleaner and disconnect the power supply.


  • Take the vacuum cleaner to the respective washing area and disconnect the hose and open the lid.
  • Empty the dust container in the following manner.
  • To remove the dust container, unlock it by pressing the two buttons situated on either side of the handle and pulling it out.
  • Press the locking lever on the dust container and open the lid. Collect the dust in a polythene bag.
  • Clean the dust container with wet lint-free cloth and dry it. Close the lid ensuring that the locking lever clicks into position.
  • Replace the dust container into position by pushing it down lightly until the locking catch clicks into position.
  • In the event that the filter is clogged, the filter indicator lights up. Clean the filter as follows.
  1. Remove the dust container from the cleaner.
  2. Open the dust container lid, twist, and pull out the cage filter.
  3. Remove the HEPA filter by rotating it counterclockwise.
  4. Repeat this operation until the filters are completely clean.
  5. Allow the filter to air dry thoroughly before replacing the operation until the filter is completely clean.
  • To clean the exterior of the vacuum cleaner, wipe with a damp cloth and wipe it dry.
Note:
  1. Do not immerse the cleaner in water or other liquids.
  2. Do not wash the dust container in the dishwasher.
  3. Do not use abrasive material or solvent.
  • The vacuum cleaner should be stored either horizontally or in an upright position.
  • Make necessary entries in the logbook maintained for the use and cleaning of the vacuum cleaner.
