SOP for Destruction of Sample after Analysis

OBJECTIVE

To lay down a procedure for the destruction of the in-process, finished product and raw material samples after completion of the analysis 

SCOPE

This SOP shall be applicable for all samples of in-process, finished products and raw materials.

RESPONSIBILITY

Execution - Chemist –QC Department 

Checking - Asst. Manager and above – QC Department 

PROCEDURE

• After approval of the batch, collect all the excess samples at a specified place and transfer them to a place “Sample for destruction"
• In the case of bottles, open the glass bottles empty the contents and remove and tear the labels (if pasted) and throw them into the trashcan.

• At the end of each day, all excess samples of raw materials, tablets and capsules should be soaked in water till they become soft.
• After the samples softened decant the water and paste in the soak pit area.
• Destruction and disposal of the above materials shall be done in the presence of the Asst. manager and above.
• All labels, cartons etc. shall be crushed/shredded accordingly.
