SOP for Entering in Sterility Room

Purpose
It is established for proper entry in a sterile area.

Scope
This procedure is applicable for working in a sterile room.

Procedure
  • Personnel preparing to enter the sterile area should remove all jewelry from their hands and arms.
  • No food item can be brought into a sterile area.
  • Objects that shed particles should not be brought into the sterile areas, including pencils, cardboard, cartons, papers, towels, and cotton items.
  • All personnel should scrub their hands with soap, before entering the sterile area.
  • Traffic flow in and out of the sterile area should be controlled to minimize microbial contamination.
  • After drying hands, enter the changing room, and change the street dress with a sterilized uniform along with the head cover and mask.
  • Frequently disinfect hands with 70% filtered alcohol during dress change.
  • Latex gloves should be worn in the last.
  • Disinfect the gloves again, check the dress for any mistakes, and enter the sterile area.
  • Do not move from the sterility room to the change room during the sterility process.
  • Personnel should come out and change their dress without contaminating the area.
  • Uniforms once used, only be reused after sterilization.
