SOP for Operation of Analytical Balance (PRECISA XB 220 A)

Objective
The purpose of this SOP is to provide a written procedure for the operation of analytical balance.

Scope
This SOP covers operations of Analytical Balance, Make-Precisa, and Model-XB220A.

Responsibility
QC Officer (Analyst): Responsible for operation, daily calibration, and maintenance of the balance as per the procedure.
QA Officer/QA Manager: Review the records and govern the document.



Procedure
Ensure that the instrument is visibly clean and free from dust.

Setting and storing the configuration:
  • Press << ON/OFF >> to switch on the balance.
  • Continue to hold down the << MODE >> and the << T >> button during the start-up process, until the desired configuration appears on the display, and then releases the button. Select Store configuration as user configuration.


Working with the configuration menu:
  • Press << ON/OFF >> to switch on the balance.
  • Continue to hold down the << MODE >> button during the start-up process, until the desired configuration appears on the display, and then release the button. Set configuration as below.
  1. Language
  2. Unit - 1
  3. Set Data Print 
  4. Set calibration 
  5. Set Weighing Mode 
  6. Set Interface 
  7. Set Date and Time 
  8. Password 
  9. Theft code

1. Language
  • Switch on the balance and depress << MODE >> until the currently activated language is shown. 
  • Release << MODE >> Press << MODE >> repeatedly until the language required is shown. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.

2. Weight Unit
  • Switch on the balance and depress << MODE >> until the currently activated language is shown.
  • Release << MODE >>. 
  • Press << MODE >> repeatedly until the Weight unit is shown. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.

3. Print Function
  • Switch on the balance and depress << MODE >> until the currently activated language is shown. 
  • Release << MODE >>. 
  • Press << MODE >> repeatedly until the Set Data Print is shown. 
  • Set the required Parameters i.e. Auto Start ON/OFF, Mode, Time Base, Set Print Format, etc. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.

4. Calibration Function
  • Switch on the balance and depress << MODE >> until the currently activated language is shown. 
  • Release << MODE >>. Press << MODE >> repeatedly until the Set Calibration is shown. 
  • Set the required parameters. Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.
  • Set all the configuration parameters by Switching on the balance and depressing << MODE >> until the currently activated language is shown. Release << MODE >>. 
  • Press << MODE >> repeatedly until the required parameter is shown. Set the required parameters. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. 
  • Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.

Setting and storing the application menu:
  • Press << ON/OFF >> to switch on the balance.
  • After the start-up process has finished, press the << MODE >> button, until the “SET APP. …” appears on the display. Set the required parameters i.e. Units, Count, Percent Balancing etc. Press << PRINT >> in order to confirm the selection. Press << PRINT >> in order to quit the menu.
  • Press << MODE >> Button, until the “SET APPLICATION” appears on the display. Set the required parameters of selected under “Application”.
  • Press << MODE >> Button, until the “AUTO-START ON/OFF” appears on the display.
The selected working program can, if required, be loaded automatically every time the balance is switched on.

Precaution
  • The balance may only be used with the power adaptor.
  • During weighing close the door properly.
  • After weighing clean the pan with a hairbrush.
  • Take care when weighing liquid is split into the inside of the balance or into connections on the rear of the equipment or the power adaptor.
