SOP for Cleaning of Uniforms

OBJECTIVE
To lay down the procedure for cleaning uniforms after use in production.

SCOPE
The procedure applies to all the uniforms, such as overalls, and dust coats.

RESPONSIBILITY
The laundry Personnel: Is responsible for cleaning uniforms.
QA Officers: Are responsible for assuring that the uniforms issued are clean and do not pose any form of contamination.

PROCEDURE
  • Collect the dirty uniforms from the Factory Laundry container in the changing rooms every morning.
  • Check all pockets for the presence of pieces of materials e.g. keys, tools, and other sharp objects.
  • Fill the washing machine with water to the required level.
  • Add the required amount of detergent into the washing machine and mix thoroughly before soaking in uniforms.
  • Switch on the washing machine and let it run for at least 1 hour.
  • Switch off the washing machine and drain the soapy water.
  • Add clean water for rinsing to the required level and run the washing machine for 10 minutes
  • Switch off the washing machine and drain the water.
  • Remove the washed uniforms from the washing machine
  • Load the washed uniforms into the drying machine to remove water.
  • Switch on the drying machine and run for 1 hour.
  • Switch off the drying machine and remove the uniforms.
  • Press the dried uniforms using a pressing iron provided.
  • Stack the pressed uniforms neatly on the shelves of the rack provided.
  • Transfer the pressed uniforms to the Lockers in the changing room.
